What is the lifetime expectancy of a Honda motorycle engine?

I was considering a 01′ Honda Shadow Spirit 1100cc bike with 17,000 miles on it. Price was 4grand. Bike was very clean, sounded beastly. How long do those engines last? Is the buy worth it?
