A lot of my friends have told me that you can get a lot of miles out of a Honda Accord without doing much major maintenance along the way, other than oil changes. What are your takes on this. Right now I have 45k miles, but I plan on holding onto the car for atleast 4-5 more years.

Why do Honda steering wheels get very soft and smooshy after a few years’ use? They seem to become very soft and the material actually starts to move back and forth, especially on the places where it is most used. Is there a way to fix this? I looked at a replacement steering wheel for my 91 Accord and it’s $350 — which I thought was a bit outrageous.

Thanks for the response, I’ll check for the things you said, but meanwhile Iooks like have another problem! I drove home fie today, no idling at all, but when I got to my driveway, the engine died on me! I tried to start it and it starts up for a second and then dies. Its doing this off and on, sometimes it starts fine, other time, it starts and dies! I am thinking its a loose connection in some electrical part, any ideas?
